Leadership Meeting Minutes – 5/28/19

OCCASION

A meeting of the leaders of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church was held on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 in the lower sanctuary of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 383 Washington St., Newark, OH 43055 at 6:30 PM EDT.  Senior Pastor Michael A. Noble presiding.

MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE

Pastor Michael Noble Louise Noble
Rev. Mario Williams Jacquelyn Williams
Dea. Fondy Carter Geraldine Carter
Dea. Greg Williams Cassandra Williams
Dea. Homer Woody Karen Hunt-Mitchell
Dan Hunt

MINUTES

In a brainstorming session, leaders were given the opportunity to share what core values they believed the church needed.  The following list was created:

  • Communication
  • Commitment
  • Sacrifice
  • Encourage
  • Standards
  • Focus
  • Unity

The group agreed to adopt a “See something Say Something” rule.  Any leader that sees an issue that needs to be addressed will make the effort to address it rather than to say or do nothing about it.

-Galatians 6:1-2

Pastor Noble presented the option of establishing a ministry that would serve to enhance the growth of the church.  The ministry would implement a zero tolerance policy but in an encouraging manner, trying to edify the church.  The leaders agreed to establish this ministry, with Dea. Homer Woody, Robert Glover and Amy Gatlin volunteering as initial members of the ministry.

Pastor Noble stressed the importance of strong communication in order for the church to be effective.  He announced the development of ShiNET, a website where church ministries and leaders can make requests, receive updates on church issues, send information to and receive information from the church office, download forms to fill out, view the church calendar, view announcements.  Rev. Williams said the site would be up shortly.

Pastor Noble opened the floor for questions from the other leaders.

Question: Do we leave it to the Rising Tide ministry to address and correct issues?

Answer: Every leader is a leader, they should be accountable, committed, willing to sacrifice, uphold the standards, committed to unity, focused, and apt to communicate. The Rising Tide Ministry is there to support the leaders and help them with whatever is needed. Between the RTM and leaders engaged in “See something, say something”, what should be done to help a ministry leader or to bring a ministry group together should come to pass.

Pastor Noble informed the leaders that a leadership package will be developed for all leaders, providing information, instructions and directions for church leaders.
